Best Life

Best Life is a mindset. It is finding wellness no matter the circumstances in which we find ourselves. It is deeply knowing and embracing one’s whole and perfect self, imperfections and all. It is having the courage to move forward and walk through our fears. It is a commitment to finding beauty in the day-to-day. It is the freedom that comes from dropping unnecessary burdens. It is fully aligning with one’s purpose. It is finding community with like-minded people who will sound the call to live authentically. It is knowing that not only are you one drop in the ocean, but you also are the entire ocean in one drop. It is making the world a better place by bringing one’s best self to the table, while having self-compassion on the days that feel messy. It is living by example.

Process

If you’ve read this far, you may be wondering how Health Coaching works.

  1. First, schedule a Complimentary Exploration Call. This is a free 30 minute telephone call during which you tell me your story. This is a time for us to identify potential areas for growth, and determine both whether coaching is right for you at this time and whether we are a good fit for one another.

  2. Schedule your Initial Consultation. This is a more in depth, 90 minute meeting that dives further into your health history. Prior to this meeting, you will be asked to complete a full Health History Intake Form that I will review prior to our session. I will share with my initial perspective on some of the steps and healthy changes that would most benefit you. We also will discuss what coaching program would meet your unique needs at this time to set you up for maximum success.

  3. Commit to positive change and plan our biweekly meeting schedule! Before our first coaching session, I will email you a Welcome Packet so that we can hit the ground running. You may be surprised at the fast pace of your progress, once you commit to coaching.

  4. Partner with me and get amazing results. During our first session, we will clarify your goals, and take care of some housekeeping in order to keep future coaching sessions streamlined and focused. We will have two regular sessions each month in order to ensure adequate support, consistent communication and accountability in order to optimize your healing and growth.

Abbie Burke

Certified Integrative Nutrition Coach

RN, FNP-BC

I created Best Life after years of receiving persistent calls to be a healer. Throughout my lifetime, that has taken many forms including being a mother to my three children, working first as a professional nurse and, ultimately, healing myself. After over a decade of experience in nursing and another half of a decade healing from a severely debilitating autoimmune disease affecting my heart, I discovered health coaching. In that role, I could best blend my professional skills and personal experience. My clinical work as a Nurse Practitioner in both Family Practice and Internal Medicine, along with my years working as a hospital nurse in Pediatric Intensive Care and Labor and Delivery, informed my experience as a patient. I also learned that when I reached the limits of conventional medicine, I needed take my health into my own hands to achieve deeper healing.

I experimented with healing diets - gluten-free, dairy-free, autoimmune paleo, Ayurvedic, vegan, raw food, ketogenic, intermittent fasting, to name a few - and learned what worked best for my body. I encountered numerous wise helpers and healers: coaches, body workers, yoga instructors, traditional healers, spiritual mentors, naturopaths, functional medicine doctors, homeopaths and chiropractors. I became an avid consumer of all forms of healing, and developed a more nuanced, discerning and experiential knowledge base. A former fitness enthusiast, I transitioned to gentler forms of exercise that strengthened my body without pushing beyond its safe limits. Importantly, I developed a regular spiritual practice to help me cope with the daily ups and downs. It took all of these approaches and more to get me where I am today.

But being a healer means more than all of this. It means living a life of authentic connections, day in and day out both “at the office” and in the real world. I fulfill my life’s purpose when I offer to steady a woman who gets dizzy in the the aisle in front of me at the grocery store, when I inquire about someone’s day while sharing an elevator ride, when I respond to my children’s’ questions about why some people have no homes, and when I let someone who has been waiting for a long line of cars turn first when I have the right of way. We all have that natural human desire to connect deeply to ourselves and also to others. I will help you tap into your own internal healer.
