Turner’s Sky

IMG_4499.jpeg

This sky would have made J.M.W. Turner reach for his brush and palette. The drama of a winter sunset stirs the soul with that painful sort of fleeting beauty that is at once captivating and devastating. I wasn’t the only one trying to capture it. My heart skipped with delight at the realization that it shared this moment with the distant silhouette of another admirer, arm raised, device in hand in a similar pose to my own. And then I put my arm down, raised my eyes and paused to imprint the image into my memory, knowing that the photograph was merely a souvenir. I look for a moment such as this every day. There is always at least one to be found...if I am awake enough to see it.
