The Non-Winter of 2020

After a decade of yearly record-breaking snowfalls in the Mid-Atlantic area, this year has turned out to be notably ho-hum in terms of winter weather. Today, I went for a beautiful walk with my son. It was warm enough to remove our outer layers and hang them on an old rusted fence post that once served to keep cattle from trampling the pond. Though it wasn’t warm enough to find any fish hovering in the shallows around the edge of the pond as we often do, the brook was babbling at full force and we enjoyed the warmth of the sun on our faces and the impossibly blue sky.
